Hey guys, my friend just bought a 10' white f250. It has around 35000 on it. Question is, he has black soot all along the side of the truck after the tailpipes. Also, when he tromps on it it blasts black smoke. Sorry if this is stupid, but is that normal to happen in a diesel or is it the beginning of a clogged DPF?
Thanks!

are you sure it has the dpf still in place? gutted maybe? if it was in place or getting clogged it shouldnt blow any noticable smoke. any sign of a tuner or any other aftermarket parts?

ok. you can be about 99.9% sure it doesnt have a dpf and the smoke is normal. the dpf looks like a damn 55 gal drum barrel inline of the exhaust that starts just after the turbo downpipe.

No problem. Anytime.

Good deal. Getting rid of emmisions as soon as the previous owner did helped that truck out tremendously.
