How do you guys launch your 6.4 when you race
I have s&b 4" turbo back and h&s hot damn 300 and I have been thinking of going to the track. Do you guys launch in 4wd what boost pressure or 2wd? Do you lock the hubs? Should I worry about breaking anything? I am only gonna race a couple times. What times should I run? I'm only curious because I raced a new 5.0 last week and it was dead even til 80 so I realized the truck kinda moves out. Thanks guys

4wd, locked hubs, and break stand up to about 15 lbs boost (if truck will hold). You can probably boost a little harder but I never do for fear of issues. Tire size plays a big roll in how hard you can boost with out spinning. In 2wd you have no chance of getting a good 60' time, way to much spin.

me personally, I'd only launch at about 10psi

With 37's I wouldnt do much over 10-12. I have never had an issue with my truck at 15 psi, but Im only on 35's. 37's is alot of tire to move.

Dont forget 4WD because thats an embarrassing mistake. You should run good. My best time was 8.3 sec 1/8th and that was my 3rd time ever down the track.

do you keep the truck in 4wd the whole way or switch it off at a sepcific speed? I thought you couldnt be in 4wd above 45mph or so?

You will be fine just don't turn with it engaged
![]() Straight line it will be fine and even if you flip the switch back to 2x4, it will not switch until you let go of the skinny pedal to release driveline pressure
