Help Removing Night Shade

kid bought a GTI has really dark night shade on rear lenses anybody removed this safely without damaging the taillight lens?

acetone is what i used on my 05, i used rustoleum lens tint and decided they were too dark and used acetone to take it off and redid it. and they turned out fine.

Advance Auto Parts brand brake cleaner. Won;t harm the plastic... We ruined a third brake light on my buddies toyota truck with Acetone. Didn;t use it that heavily either but it trashed the lens
