Fuel Mileage

Were out of winter diesel now and am wondering why my mileage is so terrible. The last three tanks I've got 14.8. 15.2 and 15.6. All three tanks have been from different fuel stations. The kicker is I pretty much only drive highway. 100 miles a day @ 68-72 MPH. I've tried running different power levels on the mini maxx too. My fuel filters have been changed in the last 2k miles, what gives. Any suggestions?

Have you tried running a bottle or two of Diesel Kleen + Cetane Boost through the system??

I tend to run DK through at least every other tank, to ensure clean injectors etc.

That's a good idea. I haven't tried that. Thanks!

You're welcome!

I'm sure you're buying your fuel from good sources, but make sure you avoid bad fuel places (I'm not big on truck stop fuel, even though they turn over fuel pretty fast. Seem to have a lot of condensation in their tank for whatever reason).

Since you're somewhere close to me, I generally fuel @ King Soopers either on Bromely or over at 136th & Colorado.

King Soopers @ Tower & 40th is currently @ 3.599 and with the $.03 discount, that would come down to $3.569...

That's actually where I typically fill up, Kings on Bromley or Dimaond Shamrock on Bromley. I decided to try Shell this last time and the same results.

Interesting.

Definitely try Diesel Kleen (buy it at Wal-Mart. $5.99 vs $8.99 at Auto Parts stores [for the 40 gallon bottle]).

I found out how to get better milage, I bought a beater Mazda protege for driving to work and back. The super duty gets between 15-18 depending on how I drive it but the beater car gets between 30-40.
