Towing and EGT question
I just bought a 18X8 vnose enclosed trailer with a empty weight of 1900lbs. Towing it empty (using mini HD300 set at no power), Im seeing EGT temps as high as 950 up hills, so I'm wondering how hot it's going to be loaded down with about 4000lbs? I have my mini max defuel set at 1400. Also I'm using amsoil 5-40, but will switch to 15-40 before I tow it loaded. Thanks!

Towing 6,000 lbs (2k trailer , plus 4k load) is NOTHING for these trucks. Don't worry about it at all. Hell , the wifes little V-6 ford explore is rated for 5k lbs. Keep an eye on your gauges (good general rule even when not towing) and you'll be fine. Don't even worry about changing the oil unless its due anyway.

That's what I figured but it seemed like the temps would have been lower. Thanks man

These trucks can handle that temp no problem just monitor your temps. Mine usually has lower egts on mild. I tow 15k +
