Take the primary filter cap off, stick your head or a camera up there and see if that sucker has ever been drained. If it looks like a growing bacterial plant, stay far far away.
That's just one of many, many things to check. 146K untuned miles would scare me to death. The DPF/EGR systems are ticking time bombs. With all the EPA junk on there, I would have to have recorded oil changes every 3500-4500miles max due to oil dilution from regen, and fuel filter change no greater than 10K miles in between services.
Tough to say without oasis/maintenance report bud.
