Ccv mod gone wrong
So I did a ccv mod about a week ago and this morning after warming up the truck I took off and noticed a hint of white smoke. I drove a little then pulled over to check under the hood and found that the heater hose had pinched. I immediately opened the oil fill cap and a gush of air came out. Im freaked out that something could of gone wrong because im not sure how long the hose was pinched. What do you guys think? Am iI just being paranoid? Any input is appreciated. Btw I returned it to the ordinal hose to vent into the intake.
thanks in advance |

How did it kink? Sounds like it was routed wrong.
As long as oil isn't blowing out everywhere right now, you're good. |

I. Guess it was too sharp of a turn. What do you think the white smoke could've been?

i used the 1 inch ID hose and had to re route it 3 different times before I found a spot that wouldnt pinch. Even the slightest bend and it would pinch

I bet it would pinch because the hose would get soft from oil impregnation.
The white smoke was coming from where? Probably just more blowby finding the weakest seal somewhere

Go to a hardware store and buy a spring that will fit in the hose, push the spring down the hose to where the bend would be and the spring inside the hose will keep it from bending/pinching at that location.

Mine has a whiteish hue to it sometimes, its probably just exhaust and steam coming from the engine, if your not smoking white out your tail pipe as well Im sure you're just fine

This thread made me reevaluate my CCV mod. I put a few bends in a piece or conduit and now I have no more bent hose. Hopefully the conduit holds up to the underhood temps.

thanks for the input guys. im gonna try and reroute it this week, i just put it back to stock for now. dieselfreek, yea mine would be like that at times from the ccv, and what made me double check was that i swore i saw the white smoke coming from my exhaust. but now its normal.
should that "weak seal" be something to worry about? i mean if it were gonna blow, wouldnt the dipstick blow first or something else? sorry for all the questions, just dont wanna keep driving when i should have it checked out first. and again i appreciate it. |
