since your asking that question on a powerstroke forum most people will be bias to powerstroke but they are right ahah. I love my 6.4 over 100k trouble free miles just keep up on your maintenance and delete it like you said and you will be more then happy and I have a feeling you wont be missing the cummins one bit

6.4
SRJD,
I get the feeling that the 6.4 may be the best light truck motor Navistar ever put out. Sure it had some issues in some Job 1 trucks. But that aside, the 6.4 has the power, refinement, quite behavior and was overbuilt in comparison to the 6.0. This engine was not interim motor for I H. I took the EGR/DPF delete route about a year and 25K miles ago. Just traded blue regen smoke every 700 miles for dark gray when I want it. I run the RCD 450 tune and the truck is a pure brute. I use it as my daily driver (16.5 -19.5 mix and hwy) and to tow V-nose and fifth wheel trailers depending on the season (10-11 mpg). If you make the jump look for a job 2 or 3. There are some killer deals out there. good luck 2010 F-350 CC LB Lariat 3.55 gears 11,500 GVWR |

thanks guys..i guess i will start looking for a f250 now too haha..so im guessing job 1 trucks are 08s? and job 2 and 3s are 09s and 10s?

I think there are job 1-3 for each model year. Job 1 for the 2008s were the trouble makers, which its the first run so not surprising.

Job 1, 2, and 3 doesn't have to do with model years but rather when they rolled off the assembly line. I believe Job 1 was January 2007 to July 2007, Job 2 was July 2007 to January 2008, and the Job 3 was from January 2008 to July-August 2008. Don't quote me on that though. There's numerous threads on here about Job numbers.

ford hands down. I get about 18-20 mpg per tank hand calculated.

only thing i dislike about the 6.4 is sound. it doesnt make much even when straight piped haha. i miss my 2005 6.0 so much, and the guy who bought it flies by my house every day and romps on it making me miss it more.
the 6.4 has crazy power and is a heck of a truck after ya delete it. shoot for a 09 or 10. the the early 08's had a few bugs and alot of guys sold the 08 for 09 or 10 and loving them. |
