Hey all, I ordered the above truck about a month ago, and the build date is October 1st, according to my dealer.
It's not "loaded", but I got a ton of options on it. (leather, captain's chairs, chrome package, etc) I am going out of my mind waiting , and what I lack in truck knowledge, I try and make up for in research and pooling knowledge from those who do.I have owned a few F-150's that I use almost exclusively for my contracting work, but I have outgrown them, and have finally moved up to the SD. I was wondering what, if any, additions or modifications you guys recommend. I am most interested in increasing fuel economy, and perhaps some increase in payload (I sometimes have to load up the bed of my truck with bags of cement), or some simple things to keep the truck looking sleek (I ordered black ext and interior finishes) while keeping my warranty intact. The only things I really ordered was a folding bed cover, and whatever bed liner the dealer was selling (factory? I dunno). Anywho, thanks in advance guys, any suggestions or tips would be appreciated. Cheers, Joel |

Awesome! Congrats on the order
Lord knows some of us are jealous! ![]() As for increasing mileage, etc. on the 08's - there's not a whole lot you can do without running the risk of warranty problems. You could do a DPF back exhaust and it may help, but I doubt it would do much since the DPF and CATS are where the restriction is.. as for the bedcover, that should help and if you want to make it look sleek, order Recon smoke lenses for your mirrors and cab marker lamps if you them As far as payload - I have no clue.. I thought those things could haul a house? haha I would think maybe overload springs or add-a-leaf.. but that will affect your ride too I think. good luck and show us some pics when you get it in!! |

Thanks!
I noticed some pics of 2008FX4's truck (silver two-tone), and it looked pretty sweet. I didn't get the cab markers (against my better judgement, bloody peer pressure!), but I am definately thinking about the smoked look. I don't want it to look too "modded", since it looks kind of silly rolling around the construction site with a truck that is too pretty, but some subtle things like that I would be interested in. Now I just have to convince my workers that they have to go through the HAZ-MAT showers and put on their Tyvek jump suits before they can get in. ![]() And I'll definately post pics. I have had the hardest time trying to find my exact truck somewhere on the Web, so I plan to put an end to that. |

Are there airbag setups avail for the 08's yet? I'm not sure...

Looks pretty sweet Bajasst.
Pretty much the same truck besides the colour. Makes the wait more painful though! What is sort of the general consensus regarding bed liners? Is it mostly just taste and aesthetic? Or are there any considerations I should take regarding function and longevity when deciding between between a hard plastic or a spray in bed liner? P.S. If this is in the wrong forum, let me know. Still learning the ropes ![]() Joel |

I just used the plastic liner. That has always worked for me. I have the built in step on the tailgate which comes with a liner on the gate only.
