I want to make it to 300K + miles......
Hello guys... I have a 08 job 2 and it has been a pretty good truck. Bought it 15 or so months ago.... It was stock. I added the H&S XRT (THE ORIGINAL not the PRO) and did a DPF/CAT delete. I have 132xxx miles on it.
So far the problems I have had are leaking coolant (hose replaced about 5k miles ago.. still see leaking but I dont know if its coolant or what.. havent paid a lot of attention because it has been very minor) ALSO I get the infamous REV-SLAM. This began 30k miles ago and has not stopped. I called Rudys Diesel Performance (where I bought the DPF/Delete) and the suggested more tranny fluid, which numbed the problem.. but did not fix it. I literally just got off the phone with rudy's and I was told that they have yet to see a truck make it to 300k. Stock w/ no tuning, or modded w/ a suncoast they all suffer from the rev/slam. Basically what I am asking is do I need to keep my eyes peeled for a steal on a 6.7.... or keep the truck I love and try and get 300k out of it. Last edited by Parker22; 04-03-2012 at 08:31 AM. |

Bit*# to them that you added horsepower that didn't come from the factory and the stock trans couldn't take it? I mean I get it, but really?

This problem has absolutely nothing to do with the truck being tuned. Stock trucks do it.... trucks with a sun coast and 300hp tunes do it. So maybe you should research before you post.... If you have a 6.4 I feel bad for you... regardless I feel bad for you.... The trucks do this both stock and tuned. Don't reply if you don't have any advice.. or know what the hell your talking about. My uncle has a 6.4 with 35,xxx miles... STOCK NO TUNING NOTHING. His does it. He is about to trade it. I don't feel like spending that kind of money.. I'm 21.. he has money.. I don't. Let's See..... You don't know what you are talking about. So why post in this thread? I don't camp out on the computer... I run a business.. and need my truck for that business. So I post on here if I have questions or problems.
What does post count have to do with anything? And seroiusly... how was I talking crap? Clearly you don't know what you are talking about... That's truth.. not crap

I bought my 09 new and have never (knock on wood) had a rev slam. I run 300 HD daily. I've never heard of this any idea what causes it?

![]() I think it is caused by Ford not getting the tranny fluid dip stick set right (if that makes sense) (if I add more fluid it gets better.... then comes back 5k or so miles later) It is a VERY common problem. |

I guess I've just been lucky. What does it do?

Between the 2nd and 3rd shift it REVS and SLAMS HARD into 3rd.
It only does it after turning..... or letting off then getting back into it (not necessarily hard... but not easing) (for example a light is red... you are slowing down then all the sudden it turns green again.... you accelerate again and it acts up and may slam into gear) Earlier I called Rudy's Diesel Performance, H&S, KEM, AND Spartan.... they all knew exactly what I was talking about and said it was a very common problem and both stock and tuned trucks do it....
