Ok, to flush or not to flush?
That is the question. So the wife took the truck into the Stealership for an Oil change. We get free ones from them. Well when I bought the truck it had about 83*** miles on it. So when the wife got it in there it now has 89*** miles. So they want us to do a Trany Flush at the price of $250. Is this a good idea. Also is there a less expenvse way to go? I have read some horror stories on here about this. Just trying to do the best for my truck.
P.S. I don't tow to much. Just a flat trailer and my Jeep. P.P.S. Ok, talked to the wife they said the fluid was a little dirty. Not burnt or anything. Just with the mileage on the truck it will be time soon. Last edited by mikezx1; 03-15-2012 at 06:54 AM. |

I'm certainly no mechanic, but I have watched a few of them over the years and hopefully picked up a little knowledge along the way. Anyway, assuming you don't know when the last time the tranny was serviced, but since you've only put 6K miles on it, I'd say not necessary. If the fuild is still in good shape (not brown and smelling burnt), you should be fine. At least get a second opinion from another shop.
Just my two cents. |

I just had a full service done to my tranny for 350.00 when I did my 30k service. I would do a full service and not a flush, that way the filter is replaced.

That's true and a very good point. My truck is due for it's 60K service so I'll probably do the same thing.
