Transfercase fluid

I'm going to replace my fluid the manual says motorcraft transfercase fluid but is't it just transmission fluid? Was thinking of putting royal purple atf in it what do you guys think.

I've heard from a few people on here to stay away from Royal Purple engine oil. I don't know if that same theory applies to the entire brand or not.

I've ran it in gasers for years,it's good stuff.You don't run it in diesels if your not deleted because it's not cj-4 rated.

When i changed mine i used mobil i atf for the transfer case

I just use the same as what's in my auto trans.

Like the others have said, I went with the Mercon SP, which is what's in the tranny.
