Mileage whiners
If you can't live with it, sell your truck and get something else. Were you promised 20mpg? All this *****ing is not going to change anything. Bigger engine, more power, more emissions devices, more weight, larger frontal area = less mpg.
I'm getting tired of going to these forums only to see the first five posts all about "my poor mileage". I guess with the '08 there's not much else to complain about and that is what a majority of posters do "complain". Including me, I'm complaining about the complainers

You got that right!
I love the new 6.4, even though we get 6.4 MPG loaded It is one heck of a millEmpty, it gets about the same as my truck, wich makes about the same power. I don't see what the big deal is. |

I agree with you, oh and that is a sharp looking 08 you got there!

OMG it edited the word to describe complaining that starts with a "b" and is also the name for a female dog. Wholly clean-ville.

It would be nice to have better mileage. But then you would not have such a powerful truck either. You gotta sacrifice something. I'd rather it be mileage than to drive a skateboard on wheels!

The mileage sucks! They regressed about 50% in mpg versus our older 450. They didn't gain that much power if you ask me. Yes some but not enough to warrant that much fuel mileage loss. Glad you like yours. Glad you don't mind paying for fuel. BUT, I don't like it. 9 mpg unloaded is just crazy. Oh yeah, I had a list of other things to ***** about since buying this thing and maybe to goodness sake they are now fixed. We did go to the dealer on Monday to trade for a Chevy and let the Ford tech man talk us out of it for now. He wants the truck this coming Monday to work with it a little. He told me up front that they have had problems with the new 6.4 and hardly none at his dealership with the 07 Chevy (they sell both). It's far from being a good truck right now.

I gotta admit that you are getting some crappy mileage there. 9 mpg.
![]() That does kinda suck. Sorry to hear about all the problems you've been having. Saw that on the other thread. I can't complain much though I get 13 with my foot deep into the throttle. If I drive it easy and keep the rpm's below 2000 I can get 15's. Not bad at all for a big old dually. I sure hope you get the problems with that 6.4 all worked out. |

do you realize these engine have evolved from running 15PSI stock (7.3) and trucks getting 18MPG to running 40LB boost (6.4). More boost means more fuel. I expected less MPG b4 they ever released the truck. It's only common sense if you know how turbo charging and the computers work. More boost means denser air, denser air mean more fuel. add in the emission control devises and wahlah 9-11MPG. Guess what the beloved GM products are having the very same problem as is the dodge.
I can post the first 5 threads from Dieselplace if you care to read them. The next 5 are about idler & Pitman arms going bad and the other 20 are concerns with rattles in the cab. |
