ball joints
I'm sorry if this has already been covered but my dad just bought. A 2008 with 94 xxx miles. I was curious if the ball joints on these trucks were as bad as the 7.3's. Wee always went by the rule of every 100 000 on the 7.3s. We haven't been to pick the truck up. But just trying to see if its going to need them soon or not. Thanks

So I take it no one has had to deal with ball joints on the 6.4's yet?
I would surely think someone would have some advice |

Fairly simple answer here I would think, Check them for play.
Also you can search for Ball Joints on the forum to get other folks expirences. My 450 ate a set at 30K miles and again at 75k. Now it is on to the steering gear and tie rods....... My 05 350 they lasted 126K miles..... |

My 08 needed ball joints at about 106k or so when I put the leveling kit on. Truck still drove fine but my alignment guy didn't want to align it until I did the joints.

Hey polarbear. My dad actually called about your 08 awhile back before you left for cali. Sure is a sharp truck you have. Wished he would have bought yours

not much has changed in the ways of balljoints over the last 10 years. count on changing them just as often. my truck had 3 out of the 4 bad at 65k

I just replaced mine 150000 km

The ball joints on these trucks are the same design from 1999-2012. If you plan to keep the truck for a while do a set of Dynatrac Pro Steers.

mine are still tight as far as I can tell at 95k miles. But everything else has been replaced. i.e. steering gear, drag link, track bar, tie rod ends...
