should i get a 6.4?
i found a 08 6.4 lariat thats right at the edge of my price range. but it has 170,000 miles and is bone stock. im worried about the miles on it. the guy is only asking $18,000 for it though! my 7.3 has 117k miles on it and is in pretty good condition for a 2001. So im not wanting to get rid of mine for something thats going to be trouble. but im in need of a crewcab bad. i have a 4 yr old boy that is too big to sit in the back seat of my supercab. You guys are always honest on here so what is your opinion. i know a far amount of stuff about the 7.3 and 6.0 but the 6.4 is a new world to me.....thanks

I went through the same exact thing. Finally had the need for a baby seat and my old 7.3 supercab just fit the bill anymore. I picked up an 08 F250 clariat with the crew cab, 150k miles and haven't looked back since. It does make me more nervous than the 7.3 due to the outrageous costs to fix things, and the maintenance costs are more than the 7.3, but I still love the truck and it puts a smile on my face every day. I'd say go for it and enjoy it! Any truck can break down so you just have to roll with the punches.

These trucks are definitely beautiful and drive awesome. I bought mine brand few and have been very happy with it.
Just follow the maintenance schedules schedules, keep an eye on things and don't treat her badly and you can go to bed knowing that if something did happen, it wasn't because you mistreated her. Sent from my EVO using AutoGuide app. |

I'm a dealer and FWIW $18k isn't too bad especially this time of year, but if you aren't stuck on a Lariat you can do alot better. If you can wait until after tax season is over prices will come down. I bought an '08 LWB CC 4x4 XL with 200k for $7800 a few weeks ago and a few months ago bought an '08 swb cc fx4 xlt with 170k for $13,500.
Today I just bought myself a new daily driver...'08 Lariat CC SWB FX4 NAV with 127k for $19,100 but it has a couple of dents and needs a windshield. Watched an '08 King Ranch CC SWB FX4 with only 86k bring $26k. Just check the oil and make sure it isn't overfilled from an overactive DPF cycle. That and the radiators seem to be the weak links. Paid $22k for mine last June. Prices just seem to keep coming down on these things. Guess the sinking economy is good for something!!

Paid 34 for mine 6 months ago with 70k miles. It was in good shape though with lift & brand new tires by the dealer.
