9.0 miles per gallon. WTF!
just got back from this weekend's job. Only got 9 miles to gallon towing! last week did same job within one block of this week's job, hauled the same load, same number of miles and got 10.2 miles per gallon. the main differences in this week's job were I did not use fuel additive this week. I also installed a new air filter, new fuel filters, and did the relearning process for the transmission. is it possible that the truck will have to relearn for a while before my gas mileage is back up? before I did all of this the lie o meter was telling me I was getting 22 miles to the gallon on the highway. Now it won't go above 19. these numbers are of course not pulling a trailer.

I thought he was tuned by his "did the relearning process for the transmission" comment and his reported mileage on the LOM.

These trucks sip fuel like no other! Even with the deletes. Or it could be that I can't keep my foot off the pedal with the tuner, cai, and delete

i have to admit I didn't expect great mileage when I bought this truck but I expected that better than my old van was getting. I checked on fully.com before I bought the truck and most people seem to be getting 12 to 13 to 14 miles per gallon which is no problem that's much better than my old van. 9 miles per gallon though is much closer to the old mileage of my van at eight. Plus the fuel is 14% more so now I'm losing money!
this was not what I had in mind when I bought a diesel. and why would fuel mileage go down after I change the fuel and air filters? Sent from my Autoguide iPhone app |

I am delighted to say that yesterday I reintroduced power service fuel additive my diesel after discontinuing its use a couple of weeks ago. when I first purchased the truck I ran it through couple of tanks just to make sure that the injectors and everything were clean but then stopped using it because I didn't think it was necessary. I was apparently very wrong. made to almost identical trips of about 200 miles. One without the fuel additive and one with the fuel additive. adding power service made my fuel mileage go from a fuelly calculated 13.5 to 15.4 miles per gallon. I also noticed that on the untreated tank the highest my lie I meter ever got was 16 miles per gallon but on the treated take my lie o meter told me I was doing 18.5 miles per gallon. I'll know more about towing this weekend because I have another job in the same vicinity as last weekend's jobs and I'm carrying the same payload so it should give me a good indication of whether the additive helps for towing.
