Looking to buy my first 6.4!!
Hey guys, I currently have an 04 6.0 and I'm looking to get something a little newer and bigger. Are there any certain years better then others or anything in particular I should look out for. Love the new body an interior on the 08 and newer, just a little concerned with the problems I have heard. It's gonna be worked like a truck too, i haul a gooseneck trailer every weekend with about 15,000 pounds on it...and concerns??

If your looking at a 6.4 '08-'10, there's very little difference between the engines themselves and in most cases, there won't be much difference elsewhere. You might have slight interior differences or in the case of the '08 job 1 a different air dam. But other then things like that, there won't be too much difference. Just make sure on whichever vehicle you look at that all the TSB's have been addressed on the vehicle.

just as many issues as a 6.0. OR less. everything mechanical is reliable for only so long. It is more reliable than your current truck, overall.

There have been several reports of the 6.4's in the high 200K range completely stock as well as in the 100K range with tuning. So I would say they are pretty reliable as long as you maintain it properly. Keep in mind, nothing is perfect, there's always the potential of a bad truck, just read the forums for examples. Also keep in mind that people come on line to report problems, not to brag about how reliable their truck is.
