Engine getting louder...
So I just rolled over 37k miles...and I've noticed the engine has gotten louder. Is this normal? My neighbor even mentioned it today lol he said he heard me start it up this morning. Runs fine, just has more of a diesel sound to it than it did when I bought it last month. It's not nearly as loud as my 6.0...but it's definitely gotten a bit louder in the past few days. It doesn't bother me...i actually prefer a louder diesel.
Just wondering if this is normal or should I be worried/start expecting something? Thanks as always, 'yall. |

mine had gotten a good bit louder than it was when I got it, and I'm talking about when it was still stock.

Yep I'm still bone stock..I just thought it was a little weird. So you haven't had any issues? It's been in the 60's here so I know it's not the cold weather lol

Your motor is getting broken in that is all it is

Mine has slight noise variations, where i buy fuel? I add the ford cetane to every fill up. This maybe a fuel issue.

I fill up at the walmart...maybe its just gettn broken in like Jeremiah said..or its time for fuel filters

Not to derail this thread but one thing I've always wondered about with mine is that after about 2k rpm the tone of the engine changes and sounds loose or clankier, don't know how to explain it but up to 2k it's smooth and mean sounding.
On the other hand my neighbor has a 6.0 and when he starts it on a cold morning I feel bad for him and the truck. Mine has fired up easily down to almost 0 so far with no rough starting.
