How can I get my horsepower back?
I read that the 450's and up were detuned from the factory for reasons I understand fully but don't bother me. What I'd like to know is how can I get the missing power back? Before I go out and buy stuff to pump up my truck, I'd like to at least have full power first. Anybody know how I can go about that or are you just going to tell me to buy a tuner? That thought crossed my mind but I wondered that the tuner is just going to build on the base programming which is some 25hp short to begin with.

I have a 450 also and when you go to a tuner like spartan or h&s they are starting from scratch so you origional base tune is fully gone and means nothing. Hope this helps and im running a spartan 300 tune and some minor work and im running mid 13's on 22.5 Alcoas

Cool. Thanks for the info. That does help. Didn't even think of it that way really. I always just thought the tunes modified the base tunes and built upon them.

Tuners just save the stock tune and flash a new one into it.
