OIL!

Told me I was using the wrong oil and said i should only use 10w30 on my 6.4. well since they changed the oil I'm starting to get a dummy light for the low oil pressure. It turns off and on. but is never on when im on the highway.

I have a 08 6.4 H&S mini max, cat/dpf/muffler delete 4" turbo back exhaust. I have 194000Km's I dont beat it like the truck runs fine.

Should i go back to 15-40 and should i go royal purple. I heard it's the best stuff for the 6.4?

I would like to do the change myself so I know it's done right so anyone know esactly how much oil goes in. should i go with a heavy duty aftermarket oil filter? and additive(s)?

Sorry for all the questions, Thanks...

Sounds like your in the north country, check the owners manual and temp range for the various oils. very cold temps light weight oils perform better.

As to your oil light issue check to see if there is enough oil in the motor..

Cheers

That doesn't sound right at all, since they changed the oil I would make it their problem as much as I could.

A diesel rated 10w-30 (CJ-4), 15w40 or 5w40 all should work fine in your engine. Royal purple is like lucas oil to me, a company more focused on advertising than a good product. Any of the major oil brands (Rotella, Delo, Delvac etc) all make a good product and are significantly cheaper.

Ya I'm from Vancouver canada. The temp here never goes below -7 or over 40 but I do spend a lot of time in the interior. Where it's a lot colder and hotter. Yes I have enough oil in the engine needs a change in about 2500 Kms but it's good. Should I put more oil in now that I don't have a dpf? How much do u guys usually put in what filters would I recommend and I think I'm going to go back to the 15w40. Ford did say there was a bill item out up that u only use 10w30 for these trucks but the thicker oil hasty drop slower so your crank bearing gotta stay lubed up more

If your dipstick says it's full, I wouldn't add any more.
