programming new key
If I only have one key do I have to go to the dealership and pay 110 buck to get a new one programed. I know if i have two keys then its a do-it-yourself project, but i was wondering if anyone has found a way to do it with only one key?
Thanks Jeremy |

With only one key, yes you need to take it in. If you have 2 keys and want add more you can do it yourself.

You have to put in the first key cycle it a few times, pause insert the second key cycle it the same number of times then insert the third key and cycle it. I cant remember the exact number but it should say in your owners manual if I recall correctly.

Call a locksmith... I have a guy here that cuts me keys for work and charges 60 bucks to cut and program a key.

^^^ That would be a cloned key, not the same as a programmed key.

I don't have the original keys for the cars he does for me. They are repos, he cuts them off the vin and hooks a computer to the car to program them, so your going to have to explain to me how that is different?

If he has a scan tool that allows him to program keys then that is awesome. Most locksmiths can clone keys from an original, so they copy the chip from one key to the new one. When you actually program new keys to the PATS system it gives each key its own programming.
