Need INFO

Im seriously thinking on buying a 2008 250 with the 6.4. I do not know anyone running that motor, I am looking for some info on that motor such as reliability, problematic, what to expect or what to look for. Im not new into diesel, I have been driving diesels for ten years just much bigger.I have been around powerstrokes all my life. I just know nothing of this motor.

Just do some searching here on the general and problems boards. ALOT of info here.

I bought an 08 with (9/07 build date) with 77K on it for $28k. (Was actually going to buy an 09 Cummins but the dealer had it labeled an auto when it was a standard ) The 6.4L has by far the best interior and creature comforts I have seen.

As far as the engine, I believe as long as you do the necessary deletes (EGR,DPF/CAT), or preventive maintenance as I call it, and keep up religiously with scheduled maintenance you will be one happy 6.4 owner. Just remember alot of people on these forums come here because of problems and are looking for solutions and ideas.

My early Job 1 6.4 has been wonderful and I have 67k miles on it. I see no reason to replace it and will wait until the next generation SD's are launched in early 2013 to see if a new truck makes sense. The biggest issue is proper maintenance. O&F every 5k miles and fuel filters every 10k miles. oh, and DRIVE it!
