Air Bags
When I installed my lift a couple weeks ago and I noticed I have air bags. Problem is, is they wont work with the lift (or they will just be stretched out to the max so, wouldnt work anyway). Do they make 'spacers' for the bags so I can reattach them?
Also, anyone with a lift - I had my tires alligned at Gateway TWICE and the steering wheel is still off to the left a little. Guy at the shop claimed it is hard to get the wheel straight due to the 'play' of the 35" tires. Guess it just bugs me. |

Judging by your screen name I'm guessing you live around the Memphis TN area. If so you might want to try "quality tire" on 51 between Millington and Atoka for the alignment. I had the same issue with my 6 inch Rough Country lifted Chevy gasser (damn IFS). Had it aligned at three different places and they never got right, took it to them based off a recommendation from a friend and all has been good for about two years now.
As for the air bags, do some digging around. If no one makes a readymade kit, it wouldn't be a hard fabrication chore to make something that would work. I installed a firestone airbag kit on the my F-350 (stock height) and if your kit is similar to mine all it would really take would be two pieces of 1/8 inch plate to space the lower mount up the requires three inches to accommodate for the lift. Yeah I am in Memphis, thanks for the post! Ill have to check them out!
I wouldnt think it would be hard to fabricate something, and it doesnt even have to be pretty! haha, but I didnt know if anyone knew of a place or if they even made such a thing. |

Think I found something, and not too bad on the price either. Im guessing I need the tappered since the blocks are tappered...

The website works for me also.... I would also like to know this because I want to put bags on my truck and then another year probably do a lift kit. So I don't want to buy stuff twice.

I don't know what I did but it's working now. Do you guys think I will need airbags for a fifth wheel? I already added a helper lift spring on the rear.

Depends on the pin weight of the fifth wheel. My toyhauler fifth wheel has 3200lb of pin weight dry. My DRW F350 did OK without the bags, but with the bags I can completly level the truck and pick the rear end back up off the contact overloads. I would put the trailer on first, then see if you actually need them. |
