6.4 Problems??

Hey all...I'm looking at possibly getting into a Job 2 2008 F250. It's got 103k on the clock...I'm mainly a 6.0 guy...so I don't know much about the 6.4. What are the problems (if any) with these motors? I've heard about the finicky fuel system and the possibility of the number 1 injector going bad and the tip exploding...hence taking out the whole engine.

Anyway...what 'yall got? Thanks!

Injectors can get stuck open, EGR coolers can leak, radiators can leak and all of the smog crap kills the MPG.

just like shopping for a 6.0... you need to have a full Oasis report run.

check the engine hours and make sure it hasn't been idled to death.

About the leaking radiators...I thought that was mainly a problem with the Job 1 trucks? And the injectors sticking and EGR leaking I'm used to...the EGR would likely be deleted anyhow.

most leaking radiators have been taken care of. like I said, get an Oasis report.

There is a company that makes an upgraded radiator if you get a leaker outside of warranty/recall

any common rail diesel is sensitive to fuel filtration and quality. If you feed it good fuel and use a good lubricity additive, you won't have injector problems

Anyone else have some input? Now I'm wondering if just bulletproofing my 6.0 isnt the best way to go...

I havent had anything bad happen to my 6.4 except trying not to push the skinny pedel too hard haha. Of coarse I never had any problems with my 6.0 either. Both great trucks in my opinion. You dont have the crazy emmisions on the 6.0
