Black oil?

I just had my oil changed at the local ford dealer. They did not tighten the drain plug tight enough and it leaked oil. I noticed the oil and the oil on the dip stick was extremely black. I only drove 50 miles after the change. I have 24k on the truck 08 and have had the oil changed 3 times this year. I tow a 45 ft toy hauler so I change every 3k. Any idea why the oil is so black.

my 08 6.4l produces a very loud noise when I am pulling up a hill. It sounds like the engine is in super rev mode but I am guessing it is some sort of a fan. Does anyone else get the load fan/rev noise.

do you change your own oil? I was wondering if they did not drain enough of the old oil.

Yup... same here. It's a diesel man. Oil turns black about 10 minutes after you've started it up. Nature of the beast.

Usually even when they change it and they show you the level on the dipstick its black all ready. They always comment on mine and say my oil is extremely clean but usually even by the time i get home its black its just the way all diesels are you have nothing to worry about

As long as it doesn't smell like diesel or there's unexpected oil growth from dilution, you're ok.
