transmission 5R110 or 5R110w
so many people i talk to they tell me that the 5R110 and the 5R110w is the same exact trans, i just wanted to see what you guys had to say because it didnt make sense to me and maybe i'm wrong but if someone can explain each in detail i would really appreciate it. thanks guys

The W stands for wide ratio. The gear ratio's are spread out farther. They did the same thing on the Mustangs in the late 90's 2000's. The 4.6 pickups got the 4R70(AODE) trans and the Mustangs got the 4R70W.

A quick google search tells me they are not. one for Diesels and the other for Gas engines. Not even the same bell housing patterns.

this was on XDP website. I just happen to be looking at them this morning. this was noted for the trans pan.
ATTN: 2008 OWNERS, It will be important to check for an external spin on filter near bell housing on the cooling tubes. IF YOU HAVE ONE OF THESE YOU WILL NEED THE #F5R110 not the F5R110W. |
