well...this sucks.
So i got into a pretty nasty wreck in my dually last Saturday. I banged up my truck pretty bad, as well as my 16 foot bumper pull pipe top. this couldn't have happened at a worse time than now...but I'm just trusting in my lord. He has never given me anything that i wasn't prepared to handle.
I was heading to my dads location to pick up a few bins of merchandise (trailer was empty). It was cold, a little windy, and quite wet and misty out that morning. It happened on a right hand curve. there was an older lady in the lane to my left, and she was about 50 ft ahead of me. I was in the most right lane (3 lane divided hwy). I was traveling at about 65 mph, then let off the accel when i saw the curve coming up. I took the curve at about 60-62. She slowed down as well...but i didn't think much of it. Not until she started coming into my lane on the right curve. It was as if she was "short cutting", but really she just wasn't paying attention. It got to where she was between 6 and 10 feet ahead of me....but almost completely in my lane. no blinker or brake lights flashing from her car...so I guess she was just gettin' her swerve on. I knew that if i were to rear-end her, on a curve, at 60+mph, I would have sent her spinning. So i applied the brake, but I applied too much. I lost control, my trailer swung and hit my right fender, then swung and hit the other (but just barely, you cant even see it), then it got caught on some cable from a barrier (i slid into an exit) trailer broke off then i spun and hit the wall about 3 more times. I landed sideways, blocking the exit. on top of that, no trailer insurance, no gap insurance, and no rental on my ins policy. lol. ![]() it sounds a lot more worse than it actually looks. . . here are just a few pics attached. but anyways...what i wanted to ask you guys is this. How do i un-install my tuner. If they total the truck, there's no way I'm leaving my tuner in there. It's only like 2 months old. I wasn't the one who installed it, so I don't know how to take off the dash and pull the wires out. Is it just the power, the hdmi, and the part that plugs into the computer??? SweetLoad |

not sure wat kind of tuner u have, but most of them just plug right into the obdII port...right under the dash, only thing u might need to do, is set the truck back to stock....but i think u would still have to pay to have it setup for a different truck....just like if u were to sell it..

I doubt they will total that

Unless you have frame damage, that looks fixable.

doesn't look to me like they would total it either...but the ins lady is saying its a possibility because the adjuster was supposed to contact me or the ins Monday or Tues...and that if it takes this long, its usually because they're gonna total it.
they are gonna add the cost of the wrecker service to the bill as well (2 trips, one for truck one for trailer) and i only owe about 22k on it. |

and that is why we have full coverage, for all the other idiots on the road. glad you are okay though I probably would have hit her

Everything that cost the insurance company is added to the price for the repair, and yes, sometimes it's better to total then to repair all the damage plus adding the additional cost. Being it's taking them longer normal, means sometimes they are getting estimates for the decision they are going to make. Call them and ask them for a decision that it is interrupting your life.

Yeah that's what we thought exactly. Believe me my wife has been calling every day. And she's meaner than a junkyard dog.

That's a crappy deal. Sorry to hear but like posted above, glad you're ok. Cars and trailers are replaceable and it just costs money. Lives are not. Always been concerned about how others around me are driving but not too worried about the way I personally drive. Unfortunately, we can't control the way other people drive or what they do behind the wheel. Seen a lot of dumb sh!t on the roads and I'm still young. Even tonight, I passed someone going 50 in an 80 zone that was constantly riding the brake and then accelerating, back to riding the brake on a straightaway. Eventually passed him when I had the passing lane and he had the nerve to flash and drive with his brights on when I was in front of him. It's like he was trying to tell me I did something wrong when road conditions were fine and it was legal to pass. Needless to say, two can play that game and I flicked my trailer hookup lights and blasted him with 20,000 lumens of light. He quickly backed off and turned his brights on. He's lucky I had a few passengers and that their cooler heads prevailed and they turned off my aux lighting. Was prepared to keep them on the entire way on the backroads.
