PCR Fuel Injection on the 6.4

Okay you oil burners...check me out and see if I am understanding this system correctly.

As I understand it, the PCR injection system does away with the need for hydraulically actuated fuel injection as on the 6.0 and 7.3 thus eliminating the need for a HP oil pump.

It seems the fuel is pumped in a high pressure rail to each injector and the piezo injector fires it into the combustion chamber by virtue of its own (piezo wafers) expansion when electrical power is applied. You end up with 30k psi fuel injection and multiple squirts.

Have I got that right?

I am wondering why you would ask me that??

Look at my signature line, I am not an oil burner and have shunned the diesel out of ignorance and old prejudices. (Remember the old GM boondoggle?)

Now I am trying to play catch up and learn all I can about these amazing engines so I can invest by education and not ignorance, like I did when I bought my V10 SD. Don't get me wrong. I love my V10, but if I had it to do all over again.......well, I think you can guess that one confused or not.
