thinkin about a 6.4

i have an 01 7.3 and im thinkin about letting it go for an 08 6.4 with 150k. it is a one owner job 3, looks to be stock. delivered in 3/08 so 3 years 9 months old. i looked it over and i found that there is a little steering noise, maybe some ujoint noise in the front and some oil on the bottom of the engine. the dealer gave me an oasis but i dont think it was all there.

don't trust the dealer's oasis. it's probably a 12 month report. pull the engine hours!

I looked at the hours in the message center. It was 4757 I think. Is that a lot? Not many poeple talk about higher miles on this motor. I plan to delete nd tune it asap btw.

31mph avg speed. Not horrible. My truck was 41mpg.

Just my opinion but if it hasnt had oil cooler and egr coolers done with that mileage it will probably be ready for some.You dont want to deal with the headaches after the fact of them going bad. If you dont have deep pockets as I dont you would probably better off either keeping the 7.3 or getting a 6.4 that has a nice long warranty. I havent had one but I am guessing the 7.3 a guy can work on but the 6.4 is a nightmare unless you have a shop and the ability to pull cabs.

How much they asking? Steering and ball joints just could be greased maybe? Not sure if these trucks even have grease nipples lol. I have over 190,000 miles on my truck and it is just now starting to have the idler pully squeak. My tranny is strong and so are my stock head bolts, egr/oil coolers. I have been running the 275 tune from spartan since the truck had 140,000 miles.

Idk about the higher mile 6.4s havent heard much about them with lots of miles. But i love mine at 68k.build date 01/08..only thing i dont like is the gas mileage but then again i didnt by an f350 looking for good gas mileage .lol..

my truck checked out... good oasis, carfax, autocheck, engine hours, etc.

got it 2 months ago with 108k, h&s and delete exhaust the next day. Just turned 113k and loving every minute of it.

EOT and ECT look good, etc. I hope it's a good one!
