how reliable is the 6.4

hey all, ive been looking around casually for a truck, and i found at the dealership im probably going to be buying at, has a ****load of 6.0s that are really nice, KR trucks, lariat, all that. im really looking at a 6.0 because i know a few people who can help me bulletproof the truck. at the same place he has a few 6.4s there around the same price range. i read that they are reliable, but how reliable, is it comparable to a 7.3? id love to own one because they look awesome and i know you can make serious power with one. id delete the EGR and DPF if i got one and tune it. not too much else unless there are some "peace of mind" mods for it. any helps appreciated

remove the egr coolers as well in order to avoid their eventual leak back into the motor.

i believe the 6.4 is a really solid and reliable truck. mine has 220,000 problem free miles. i dont know if its as reliable as my 7.3 but it sure is looking that way

I love my 6.4. I would say go for it over the 6.0. So much easier to make power, but with that being said, you gotta pay to play!

If the 6.4 was rated at the same power ratings as the 7.3 I bet it would way out last the 7.3s. But these things are power monsters! With just an intake, tune and exhaust you can make close to 600HP/1200ft-lbs AT THE WHEELS! But without some other mods (i.e. studs, EGR delete, CCV mod, coolant filter, bypass oil filter, tranny filter, AirDog II, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY a little common sense) you will sacrifice the reliability for that power.
