Do you have automatic 4x4 with the turn knob near the radio to go from 2 wheel drive to 4 wheel drive? That's the little vacuum module that engages the hubs to lock/unlock. Sounds like she's taking a dump.

so if i disconnect it for now it wont hurt it right? I know i wont have fourwheel drive but i wont need it for a few days im guessing.

If its vacuum controlled, when you disconnect it you'll have a vacuum leak, so if that's the route you go make sure you cap that line off.

Yes, just disconnect the electrical plug and leave the vac lines connected. That will take care of it for now and you won't have any vac leaks

Well I unplugged it and I can still get the truck in fourwheel drive. Any otherr thoughts? By the way it still drives fine unplugged.

That is a vacuum PUMP! If its constantly running then you have a vacuum leak. If you unplug it then you will only have defrost, since the mode doors are actuated by vacuum. Do you have ESOF 4x4? If so thats probably where your leak is. Your 4x4 will work without it if you manually engage the hubs (if you have auto hubs.)
It dosen't sound bad to me. The one an my 7.3 (and every other one I've heard) sounds the same way. |
