Mileage sucks

I cant figure it out. I can not get better than about 12 or 13mpg with an average of 11 both in the city and on the hwy. It does not seem to matter. I get 11 towing, and 11 unloaded. What the heck is wrong. I hear of all these people getting 15 or better mpg with a dpf delete. I have changed the fuel filters, air filter is clean, no codes in the system. What am I missing. I have tried all the stock tunes on the SCT. Will a custom tune solve my problem? I can imagine it will be that much better. suggestions? My mileage was this good with stock exhaust and no tuner.

by the way, the lie o meter says I get 14 or 15, but these numbers are hand calculated.

What vehicle are we talking about? What gears? SRW or DRW? The higher the gears and the more wheels you have, the lower your improvement. Some users have even reported no improvement on the F450's.

I am new to the forum, so hello to everyone. Just got my 2008 F350 6.4, super crew. Love the truck and was okay with the mileage until this weekend. Seems the DPF started its cleaning cycle and I could see the fuel gauge drop like I had a hole in my tank!! Anyone else have this happen?? This is my first diesel and really do not want to be discouraged with it. Please help!!!

Yep it happens to all of us! That's why we don't have a dpf anymore

Was considering removing the DPF since no emissions on diesels in Pennsylvania. But we do have inspections and I would have to find a shop that would not look for the DPF removed.

Seriously considering getting rid of the damn thing!!

Do your truck a favor and let it breathe. A buddy of mine just bought a 08 F-250. His went into regen for the first time and lasted all day 88km on the truck. Obviously something is wrong for it to regen for over 50 miles. Needless to say he will be deleting the cat and dpf next week

Thanks for your input. I will go for it. I have a buddy that has been helping me understand the fundamentals of the engine. He advised me to join this forum to get input and help from other owners. He is a Dodge guy though (Nobody's perfect!!)
