6.4 MPG with and without tune/DPF

Hey guys,

I am considering moving up to a 10 6.4 from my 07 6.0. I have been told the 6.4 gets lousy mileage and wanted to hear it from guys on the forum .

I average 14.5-15mpg and can easily pull down 17-18 hwy. Unfortunately I do a bunch of city driving so im mostly down at the 14 mark and not up at 17, but it still seems better than the newer trucks.

Let me know what you are getting.

I had a 2010 6.4L and yes it was a very fuel thirsty engine. You'll never beat a 6.0 in mileage even though they aren't much better, a few MPG's and that's it.

from what i've read, those numbers are possible with the 6.4. i don't see those numbers but i'm running a DRW with 4.30s. i see about 11 or so city and 13ish on the highway. if you stay away from the DRW i think you could hit the mpg you are looking for pretty easily.

mine was 9-10 untuned and 10-11 tuned almost all city driving and towing weekly. I have gotten 20 on the highway coming back from the mountains one time but that was a lot of downhill

i actually got 15 hand calculated mpg with dpf in my 6.4 on a tank and that's considering a burn cycle. but that's also considering never letting my rpm get above 2k and letting my truck warm up each time before putting it into drive AND come to find out my egr was stuck shut.. but it CAN be done..

I get 15-17 on the highway on a regular basis. My truck is completely stock, but most of my driving is highway and very little city driving. Pulling a trailer it always seems to stay around 12-13

Stock I was getting between 13 to 14.5 on a full tank whether I was pulling a trailor or not. That was tryng to get good fuel miliage. Now I have deleted, intake, and tuner running the 250 hot tune. First tank I got 16 out of it with highway and city, and just having a new tuner plenty of heavy throttle driving. This tank I have 150 miles so far and am dead on 3/4 of a tank. Mostly highway some trailor pulling. All that was hand caculated. The lieometer went from reading around 15 all the time to just over 20, it is usually about 1 or 2 mpg off on my truck. BTW mine is a 2008 F250 CC.

i think the MPG's on a stock 6.4 would scare the crap out of most people. its horrible, no comparison to my 6.0 mpg's. after tuning the 6.4 you do get about 25% better mpg's ,and considering the power gains its now acceptable....cause the 6.4 tuned is like a freaking race car...and 12 mpg in the city is pretty good for an 8000 lb race car.....i think anyway...
