i heard someone mention that you should do an "injector drop test" occasionally on the 6.4. i have no idea what this is or how to do it. is this something that needs to be done at a shop or the dealer?? any info would be great.

There was a post on the dealer suggesting that to a customer. Like to know myself what it is.

It can be done at a dealer or a shop that has the tools to do it. You take the injector out and drop it (from at least 6ft up) on the floor. If it still looks good and didn't break you put it back in. Sorry couldn't help it. No its where you hook up the scanner and drop(turn off the injector)cylinders to find problems. Mostly for miss fires and ruff running.
