What Transmission Fluid??

What transmission fluid does everyone recommend, book says to use Ford Mercon SP only? Also I am hearing that these job 1 trucks should be run with a half qt over full??

I believe the latest and greatest from Ford is Mercon LV, which is just an updated version of the SP. Not sure about the 1 qt over full, I've always just followed the procedure in the manual and check the dipstick until it is where I want. I've always stuck to the Mercon simply because if there were to be any tranny issues that were brought into Ford, if there is the exact fluid in the tranny as they suggest it is one less thing for them to try and wiggle out of the warranty covering it.
