Heavy Towing Recomendations
I am new to the Diesel world. I have an 08 F450. I will be towing a 20,000 46ft race Trailer. What should I initially due for reliability. I do not want tons of power to race the truck. I am thinking a good tuner for a tow tune and to monitor engine parameters, DPF delete, and EGR delete. Do I need a wastegate with just a tow tune, and does towing heavy require the wastegate if I do the EGR delete.

I have an 08 F450 and have left mine stock for the most part. What I have done is add several mechanical and electric gauges. IMHO the factory gauges in the dash are inaccurate and unreliable at best. The trans gauge in the dash never matches my Auto Meter gauge. I monitor the transmission, Transfer-case, Pyro temps and also have a boost gauge as well as a good volts gauge. The truck is perfectly capable of towing a load like that in stock form. I will be deleting and tuning in the future but it will be after the warranty is out.

Thanks. Is the EGR delete really necessary; Is the failure rate that high.
