Oil for 6.4

What oil does ford suggest you use for oil changes? I live in Northern NJ, so will the cold effect the oil they suggest? let me know

5w40 is all I use (I also believe its whats recommended), synthetic if at all possible, I use shell rotella t6.(t6 is full synthetic)

So Shell Rotella 5w40 Diesel Synthetic t-6 oil is the best oil for this engine?

You'll only get about ten thousand different opinions with that question. For what its worth I have heard great things about amsoil as well. I think if its 5w40 and full synthetic your sitting good. Im sure some are better than others but at some point its just splitting hairs.

There will be lots of opinions. Google Blaclkstone Labs. They do oil analysis and they have reports on all kinds of oils. Someone else suggested Blackstone Labs on here. Check it out and see what you think. Hope this helps.

another vote for T6 here. If you want to see how long the discussion can be take a look at "Bob Is The Oil Guy". WOW !! Simple answer T6 is darn good oil.

i have been using Rotella T6 synthetic, and i will be switch to Amsoil 5w-40 on my next oil change full synthetic, not because i dont like the Rotella just because i like Amsoil

Just got my 15qts of Amsoil 5w-40 today and the amsoil filter too. $190.

I run Valvoline Premium Blue 5W40 Full Synthetic, buy the 4 gallon case at Napa. Stuff is dang expensive, but I think the oil is the best for my truck.
