Gauge Cluster

Hey guys,

If I replace my gauge cluster on my 6.4 Harley with a new one from Ford. I know I need to give my VIN and my current mileage, which is easy since I just Safety Checked (visual state inspection) my truck and it shows current miles. They mentioned I need to take my truck in after switching out the clusters so they can "recalibrate" the new cluster to my truck....Can anyone shed some light on what that is. What that usually costs and entails, and is it something I can do or the dealer needs to plug in the computer. If I do need to take it in to the dealer can I drive the truck after switching it out just to get to the dealer. Or is the truck inoperable until they recalibrate it.

I hope I made sense, thanks in advance guys.

Will

Norally the ic is a programmable module. Sometimes pats is in the ic so if it's not programmed your truck won't start. Anybody with an ids should be able to inhale/exhale the data for the ic for you and depending on the pats location you may need two keys to program that.
