6.4 Performance
I went and test drove a used 2008 6.4 and when i put the pedal down it didn't seem too fast at all, maybe even slower than my 6.0. Is this how they are before a tuner and dpf delete or any opinions?

I noticed the same thing when I drove my (used) 08 F-450 for the first time. I also noticed that after a few days of 'heavy footing it' the truck actaully seemed a bit quicker ... Then I researched and found the 5R110 is constantly learning our driving style including sensing torque and load then adapting to it.
This gave me the impression my truck was 'babied' by the PO. Well cruising time is over, time to play! Hence the mods.

So you don't think this is something I should be concerned about?
Thanks Ed |

Well I could only stand it for a week.
My strong running 07 GMC Denali crewcab shortbed completely crushed the Super Duty in any acceleration comparisons! I was honestly disappointed with the acceleration power of the stock 6.4. While I didn't buy the F-450 Dually to do 0-60+ sprints all day, every day (a big 5ver toy hauler is in our future) I do like to have fun and feel hp/tq at times! 5 days later I orderd H&S Black Maxx DPF/Cat delete AFE CAI ..... It took 3 of us less than one hour to install and as they say: The rest is history! Re-mached with the 07 Denali and COMPLETELY different story and out come .... The tuned F-450 now pulls away at any where shy of tripple digits! I am very happy with this truck now. I just have to learn to click 'er down a notch or 2 when towing. I have towed more than the Denali ever could have towed, and I'm getting better mileage and towing safer too! I have towed loads of: #3500 (honestly didn't feel it) #6500 (towed well but hit high EGT with WOT pulling a grade with HOT tune) #10000 (Knew the load was back there but felt the truck didn't even struggle and was in control 100% of the time) Looking forward to towing the #18000 5th wheel toy hauler. That's what everyone seems to say and I also think I am planning on doing pretty soon. Thanks for all the information! Has your truck been pretty dependable after the tuner was put on?
