6.4 release dates?

thinking of upgrading the old 7.3 for a 6.4 but i was told there are different versions according to the release date and to stay away from the 08's is there any truth to this?there are lots of 08's for sale but hard to find a 09.I was told to make sure if i get a 08 to make sure it is the right one how do i know?thanks for any input.

No truth in that, remember, every vehicle can have issues. There were issues with the radiators on the job 1's but most if not all those have been taken care of. Haven't heard an issue in a long time, at least not on the boards. There was also a bad batch if injectors at one point on the job 1's, but not many were affected. And most likely none if those exist anymore as they were probably fixed.

There are 3 versions, job 1, 2 & 3. Each one was slightly changed as they learned things from the earlier versions. The job 1's were made until around Oct 07, 2's until the end of the year and 3's until they began production on the 09 model.

If you look on the door sticker, it should tell you the build date and maybe even the build number. I'm guessing whomever told you the information was referring to you making sure you get a job 3 truck. So make sure the build date is 2008 and not 2007.

If all the upgrades where done on the truck it should not matter what build it is. The job 1 trucks had exturnal filt on trans.
