Brake pads and build date change.
When i went to buy some different brake pads for my 08' f350 srw I found that PEP Boys asked what the build date of my truck was, either pre or post 7/30/07 for rears and pre/post 7/29/07 for fronts. Apparently good ole ford changed somthing in production between job 1 and 2 trucks on the brakes.
What confuses me is that none of the other stores ask for a build date. I looked at the different pads at the store and they have totally different part numbers but they appear the same. BTW, the earlier build pads are also more money by about $10 a set. Luckily my guy matched the pricing for me. Just a little FYI for everyone out there.

I looked on motorcrafts website and it said something about the build date as well, And when I called the dealer to order a rear set of "Superduty" motorcraft brake pads he asked for the vin but I didnt have it handy, long story short he got me the set made for pre 7-30-07 which turs out to be exactly what I needed as my truck was built sometime in 07/07 I guess there is that slight chance it was built 7/31/07 but I guess I will find out tomorrow when I put them on.

Well they did fit and my LR rotor kinda needed to be turned but the dealer wanted about $350 to do the rear, I know what the pads cost $107 so they wanted $243 to turn 2 rotors and put the pads in. I told him where he could stuff that. It was only the inside of the LR rotor and the grooves weren't deep enough to catch my finger nail, it just wasn't as smooth as I prefer them to be. Oh well.
