2008 4.30 fuel mileage?

I need to know what guys with an f-450 2008 with a 4.30 rear end are getting as far as mpg goes. I'm buying an f-550 and so I've got a pretty good idea on the 4.88 (8-9 loaded and about 12 at most unloaded). Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm really needing to get this thing ordered.

It would be over 13% increase in RPM. That is significant. It would depend on the speed your traveling as too how much fuel you would use as compared to 4.3 gearing.

My 08 with the 4.30 traveling around 65-70 closer to 70 gets 11-12 unloaded 6-7 loaded with a 15000 pound trailer. doing 55-60, closer to 55 it gets 8-9 towing and 14 and change unloaded.

Our 450 with a 430 gear gets 9.5 mpg empty at 75 mph. That's ridiculous!

I am getting about 8mpg load with trailer at 65mph and about 10mpg unload at 70mph and in town driving.

I moved my 5th wheel that's 10,000 lbs last weekend.

Hwy 83, 928 miles. Average was just over 9 mpg. Mileage is over 11,000.

Has anyone here tried an aftermarket overdrive unit with the 4.30 gears? I concidering purchasing an 08 F350 dually with 4.30. I'm courious about adding an overdrive unit. Any comments?

ir your talking about that equipment that adds a second overdrive and a gear between each gear you prob would get better MPG on the highway but i know it cost over 2k not installed.. plus youll need a new shorter driveshaft.... if you do a lot of highway miles i would sat it would be worth it but if you dont save your money....
