Castrol Tection Extra 15W40 Anyone?
I am fast approaching the 1st oil change on my new '08 Super Duty 6.4L diesel Crew Cab and was wonderin' if anyone out there has any experience with Castrol Tection Extra 15w40.
I have alway used Castrol products in eveything from my offroad motorcycles/ATVs to cars and gas engine trucks with excellent results (I currently own 2 vehicles with over 250 K-miles on the original engines). Yesterday I noticed that the local Wal-Mart now stocks Castrol along with the usual assortment of Diesel Lubes. B4 I got this '08 SD I owned an '05 SD Crew Cab and used Rotella 15W40 exclusively in it without any problems. Should I stick with the Rotella ro go with Castrol which has given excellent performance in all my gas burners over the past 30 years??? Let me know what y'all think.... |

as was stated above...look at the label on the back and make sure its CJ-4 compliant....
If it is..it should be OK......now my personal opinion is Motocraft all the way..i wont run anything but it in any of my rigs...but no matter what with your rig it HAS to be CJ-4 oil.... |

The Textion is big here in Oz (Australia), Castrol is big here.... Severe Duty means the Outback and towing, and Castrol is highly regarded in the 4x4 Community in general...
I use Castrol RX-Super 15-40 in my 6.0, Textion was designed and is recommended for the Euro Diesels. I run the Textion in my Euro Mack, 4x4 Dual Cab horse truck... Again, what is recommended here in Oz... Mind you, they tell me there is a difference between the Euro Diesel Requirements and the American Diesel, and Castrol recommend the RX Super for my 6.0, but say you can use Textion. I would talk with Castrol and get their recommendation, as it has something to do with the level of detergent oil and the rings.... But I forget what it was off hand.. Not much help, except call the Castrol Technical phone number, probably a 1-800, and they can tell you.. Good luck with the 6.4 FlameThrower...
