Hey guys my father in law is looking to buy a 08 f350 king ranch. were coming from the 7.3 world so were not to familiar with the 6.4s...what are the things to look out for with this motor? Any major problems? How is the power? Recalls? The truck has 74000 miles on it. Any insight would be great. Thanks.

I would get an oasis report on the truck and see if it has ever had any radiator issues, or injector issues. What is the build date of the truck? That will tell alot if it will even have the above issues ever, or if was a later job 2 or 3 truck and probably wont have those issues. Keeping the maintenance up on these trucks is huge. Change the filters and oil on a regulat 5k mile basis and that will help you avoid issues. 10k miles on the fuel filters. Also drain the water separator once a month and that will help you to avoid any HPF system issues.

Get rid of the DPF, CCV mod to keep oil out of your intake boot, change oil filter and fuel filters regularly.

Keep water out of the fuel! Drain the HFCM often. Water in the fuel system is what destroys these things. The 6.4L has EGR and oil cooler problems, but not as bad as the 6.0L.
