I've had the 08 for 6 weeks now
I bought an 08 F350 lariat, crew cab, 4x4, long bed, srw for $22,700 with 115,000 miles. I drove it for a week to feel it out and then installed the Afe intake, flo pro 5" down pipe back and mini maxx. The truck was awakened with those mods. She was wandering on me so I had the ball joints replaced and I noticed that the dual steering stabilizer set up was rubbing on the drag link, causing me to have to correct the steering more than usual. I raised it about an inch and the steering is tight now. It took a lot of pedal to stop it so I went to Midas to have the brakes checked out. They told me the brakes were fine. I didn't believe them so I took the wheels off and checked them out myself... I was almost metal on metal on the inner pad. Changed all four brakes. I was trying to avoid doing the work myself because I was on vacation in Texas to pick up the truck and drive it home to Alaska. I didn't have a good spot to work on it, but i ended up doing everything in my mother's drive way. I did the brakes in the pouring rain with lightening crashing around me.
Aside from the mechanical stuff, I linexed the rocker panels (it came with these ugly chrome panels on the rockers. After they were removed it needed something to cover up the removal damage. The lineX turned out very nice). I did the weathertec floor liners, and put on 18" XD Hoss wheels (black), with Nitto Trail Grappler MT's (34.5). It came with a 4.5" lift (rancho with radius arms and RS 9000's) After all of that I hooked up to the 40' gooseneck enclosed car hauler I bought and drove 6,000 miles back to Alaska. The truck was amazing. She pulled hard through tough conditions. The coolant got up to 220 on 3 occasions and the hurricane fan kicked on and cooled it down. I also backed out of the pedal some. I'm sold on the 08, it is a strong and comfortable truck. It is far superior to my 7.3 and the 6.0 I used to drive. 10 MPG pulling 12,000 plus the truck, 16-21 MPG unloaded depending on how froggy I'm feeling on the pedal. |

I searched the whole country for at least 6 months. I finally found this one at Don Davis Ford in Arlington, TX. I think I got it so cheap because it had an oil leak that they didn't think I would find. Well, I found it right away and they fixed it with no questions asked. They were great to work with, and they have pretty good deals. North Texas Truck Stop had my back up truck if this one didn't work out.

THat is a great deal, I paid 39,999 for mine (45 after all was said and done). Mine had 28,500 on the ticker. Mine was first sold in Nov 09 so my warranty still has a lot of life left on it. I just had them go through it from top to bottom (including a cab lift). They fixed everthing that was wrong and anything they knew would be a near future problem and it didn't cost me a dime. That also included a rental car.
I might have paid more up front but I've already gotten a good chunk of that back. |
