I'm happy with my MPG
That's right, here's why. I had an '06 F250 Lariat 4X2 with stock 16" wheels and the Pirelli tires. It had 26,000 miles on it and I averaged 18-19 MPG.
Enter my new truck: '08 F250 King Ranch 4X4 with 20" rims and much larger stock tires. With 5,000 miles on it I am averaging 16.5 to 17.5 MPG. Same exact driving style and mix of city and highway. I fully expected to lose MPG with the 4X4 even though it's not engaged and also the larger and heavier wheel/tire combo. Not to mention the emissions system which I'm very pleased not to smell diesel fuel at stop lights like my 6.0 and every time I got out of it. So I'm happy |

nice truck! Our 550 w/ 6.4 gets 6.5 towing, but around 12 empty. You're doin' pretty good.

Mine gets just as good as my 1500. If you want it to use more it will. Controlled by right foot.

I'm no expert but you need to break that thing in a little more to get better fuel mileage. Unlike Gassers my fuel mileage gets better with age.

My truck's new, and gets around 15-16 mpg average, maybe 20% worse than my '06 which was a CC SRW short box 4X4 w/ Superchip program on performance. New one is more truck, so I guess I can't whine about mileage - it's a CC dually 4X4, loaded, long box. Bear in mind , we're burning Imperial gallons up here - 4.54 liters per gallon, as opposed to something like 3.8 per gallon US - about 20% bigger gallon
