08 w/ new update Regen cycle
Ok I had the update done last week on the truck. Truck is running great but this new cycle is weird. It tells me to drive to clean the exhaust then about 20 minutes later finally goes into cleaning exhaust mode. I drove for like 20 more minutes while in the cycle and finally had to park it while still in it. How long does it take? It never took this long before.

I have a 2010 F350. I got the update 4-weeks ago and it's only gone through Regen 1-time. I had to drive for about 20-minutes until the regen cycle was completed. Since the flash update, I've noticed it doesn't go into regen as often as it did before.

After I had my re-flash I had the same "drive to clean" message. My regens went from 200 miles to 365 to 565 the last time. The CEF message stays up for about 5 seconds so I don't understand how you'd miss it. No "Finished" message though which I find a bummer. Overall, very happy with the update. Nice job Ford!

im going to have to bring my truck to another dealer to verify i had the update done. i know my truck has go into regen since i got the update but it isnt showing on my display. when i first bought the truck it would show the message everything and would stay on until i cleared it or it was completed.
what my truck does and what i read about the new update dont jive. i had the truck in the shop last week for some other problems and asked it they would update it since it was there. |

The new FSA is different from the original, customers used to complain that the regen always came on now they complain that it doesn't come on as much. when they update the pcm they also need to update the cluster if it hasnt been done yet might be part of the indicator concern.

I've had two different types of regens so to speak since the update. My first one had in the display "drive to clean exhaust" and I just had my 2nd one which had no message. I noticed I was getting 11 mpg so I did a system check and the last check in the display said "cleaning exhaust"

I towed my Toy Hauler this weekend and then had a regan at 200 miles just like the old days. Was really hoping for 500 miles between regens for all of the obvious reasons.

I had the update done on mine two weeks ago. Up until Saturday I thought all was well, seemed to run better and not have rough idle while cleaning exhaust, then Saturday morning sure enough, "cleaning exhaust filter" and wait for it..................................... the huge embarassing whiteish gray cloud. I have maintained all 31k miles to the dot. Oil changed at 5k with Motorcraft oil and filter, fuel filters every 10k with Motorcraft filters, trans serviced by Ford at 30k. What a dissapointment.

The powerstroke booklet that I got when I bought my truck says it can take 20 to 40 minutes to clean the DPF. It also says that you need to drive more than 30 mph for the regen cycle to properly clean the DPF. It says specifically not to idle the truck during the regen cycle. Keep driving at as constant speed as you can. Thank the Air Pollution Control Board for the smoke requirements.
To me it's an inconvenience I'll live with because I could never buy a GM or Dodge after those two parasite companies took your's and my money in bailouts and then declared bankruptsy. GM said that they paid the company back. That's a huge lie. After the bankruptsy, they only paid back a small portion, wrote some off in bankruptsy, and gave remaining money owed in GM preferred stock to the gov. The US government is selling the shares this summer at about a 50% loss to what's owed. Time to get off my soapbox. Out!! |
