looking at buying power steps....opinions please
so i'm looking at buying a set of the power steps that drop down when you open the door and disappear when you close the door. what are the pros and cons of these steps? i have not googled them yet to see what's available but i've heard of the AMP steps, but haven't heard of any competing brands. any suggestions on where to buy them? are they a DIY type project or would i need to have them installed by a shop?
any opinions would be greatly appreciated |

after reading the details a bit more closely the warranty package is different. it's 5 year/60k miles for AMP and 3 year/36k miles for the Best Top. Last edited by wide body; 04-13-2011 at 03:10 PM. |

I had Amps in my last 07 Harley CCSB and my good friend has Best top on his 08 CCSB. They look pretty much the same. For some reason the Best Top felt more sturdy, its probably because my amps were quite a bit older then his. His had a different coating then my amps did, his is similar to line x. I plan on picking up a set of best top steps in a few weeks. I like how the new steps from Amp/Best Top come with courtesy led lights.

Thanks for the info, I am thinking of selling my Nfab steps for a pair... I believe best top makes them for Amp.

AMP and Bestop are not the same. That used to be the case, but they are completely different now. Bestop was a distributor for AMP, but they now manufacture their own. I would personally stick with AMP. Let me know if you d like a quote on a set.
