In the 6.4 club
IVE HAD IT! I traded in that POS 6.0L for a bran new never used 6.4l. I could no longer take the weekly breakdowns on idiotically designed parts. I HAD an 04 6.0l with 5inch turbo back exhaust, sct livewire, studs, egr delete the works! Bought the 6.0 for 10,000, put another 5000 in aftermarket goodies, and probably 6 grand is useless oem garbage that kept breaking.
The last straw was the HPOP (Second HPOP in 35000km btw) and when it went so did cam position sensor and crank sensor AND 2 injectors. So I went into ford and here is this 2010 loaded xlt and did up the paper work for it. I said hey, Ive got a 6.0 thats dead, its a bad hpop, what'll you give me for it? He chuckles....CHUCKLES! And says, we dont take those here....too hard to move, he tells me... Needless to say I stripped the 6.0 of the goodies and am parting them out, and I shipped my truck to a wrecker for 1800 bucks. Anyone needs recon lights or sct livewire pm me! I guess Im just here to say Im in the 6.4l club now!

all said and done I payed a total of 31000 for it, not a bad deal for the low kms here in northern canada.
Ill see If I can post up some pics tonight. Its a White f350 crewcab long box. By far the biggest truck Ive ever owned haha. |

So I think that I'm about to do the same. I have a 2006 F350 single wheel that has been a freakin mechanics dream. THANK GOD this POS is under warranty still because it has been in the shop numerous times for all kinds of crap. To list the things that I know of front engine casing (twice), front main seal (twice), water pump, HPOP fitting, HPOP gaskets, Head gaskets, egr cooler upgrade (preventive), rear main cover, turbo drain tube upgrade, 3 gear boxes, complete engine teardown and rebuild last week due to a broken tap in the HPOP rail in the back of the engine (mechanics fault), and now it is back in the shop because the transmission is getting hot after this rebuild. All I can say is that Ford has been great with fixing this truck under the factory warranty and I'm thankful for that. Now for the big decision. My warranty will expire in Aug this year, so I am contemplating getting a 2008 6.4 with 37,000 miles in great shape by looking at it. Have not driven it yet. Absolutely perfect from what I can tell never had a trailer behind it from what it looks. Do any of you have advise to either get it or stay away from this 6.4? I really like my 6.0 but can't afford to take the risk of fixing it all the time. Your imput would be appreciated.

Glad to hear you got rid of your 6.0. Im happy for you. Enjoy your 6.4, and the problems that are associated with it.
