fuel tank leaking????
I installed a aux fuel tank in the bed with it just gravity feeding into main tank. Now I have fuel leaking out of the main tank. Its coming from the top of the tank. Is there anything on top of the tank that it could be coming from. Breather or something. Cant figure it out. And cant get under there to see anything. Help............. Thanks Chris

I had the same problem so what I did was to shut off the aux tank for a day after I filled the aux tank so the fuel would warm up and stop expanding.

OK, Did you have a vent on your aux tank. I bought a RDS tank and it had one opening on top of tank plugged and other on has a 1/4inch open. Do I need a vent opening on aux tank for gravity feed.

No vent. When fuel is low it stops working so I put a fuel pump on it to get it going again. I think it stops because air gets in the lines when low. So I would turn the pump on when going downhill ( the outlet is on the side toward the front) for like 15 -30 seconds to get it going again.

Did you ever figure out where it was leaking from on the main tank? The
fuel expanding makes sense. I put it in this morning when it was cold. If I plug the vent on the aux tank will it still gravity feel normal? As the fuel goes down in the main tank will the suction from the main tank pull the fuel out of the aux tank? |

All I know is somewhere on top of the tank. I bought the truck new so no other mods were ever done on it. I never removed the plug on top of the tank.

northern tool kit by RDS
how did you guys do your plumbing?...did you use the kit or just make your own hook-up to the fill tube?

Well, I drilled a hole in filler neck. Put a 1/4in brass nipple in and jb weilded it. Looked same as kit at hardly no cost.
